CORPORATE PROFILE

History

The Busy Bookkeeping concept was first launched over ten years ago, and there has been a steady increase ever since with the network comprising some 60 franchises.

Busy Bookkeeping continues to grow steadily and is a truly Australia Wide network of Bookkeepers with New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania all having Franchise outlets.

Aims

Busy Bookkeeping retains as its major focus the provision of high standard, cost effective, professional bookkeeping services to accountants and their clients.

Our people fill the role for small and medium businesses that financial accountants play in big business. We help clients to provide their public practice accountant with accurate up-to-the-minute financial data that simplifies their tasks of giving business and financial advice and managing taxation requirements.

Each Busy Bookkeeping franchise has its own designated territory within which franchisees can market and promote their services. As the number of franchises increases in each state; marketing, administrative and technical support continue to be provided by a central management team. Professional development programs and workshops are provided to set and improve the standard of bookkeeping services delivered by the network. Regular "cell" meetings of franchisees are also encouraged and facilitated at which a number of franchisees from particular regions meet to discuss areas of common interest related to business development and joint marketing initiatives.

The major factor, which continues to be reinforced as the network grows, is that its greatest strength lies in the quality of its members and their willingness to share the experience, which they bring to the group.

The importance of this is emphasised by the care taken in selecting new franchisees. Any new member of the Busy Bookkeeping team needs to be either a formally qualified accountant or a bookkeeper of considerable experience. Computer literacy particularly in accounting or bookkeeping programs is a valuable asset but so too are personal qualities like being a team player and wanting to establish a successful business.

Services

The Busy Bookkeeping concept hinges on providing clients with a mix of three key services.

Consulting and Troubleshooting.

The first service element involves assessing the bookkeeping needs of each client and designing a program to meet these in the most efficient and cost effective manner. There may be a back log to tidy up and our operators will use the network knowledge of a particular industry and, where appropriate, work with the client's accountant to ensure that the proposed system covers any perceived business priorities.

Bookkeeping programs will generally be set up in a package such as MYOB or QuickBooks but the breadth of network experience means that there are few computerised bookkeeping systems which cannot be effectively set up and maintained should this be a client's preference.

Training and Coaching

If a client prefers to keep their books in house, Busy Bookkeeping provides training, coaching and mentoring services. Group training courses on MYOB and QuickBooks are regularly provided for small numbers of participants whose skill levels are similar. Alternatively client staff can be given one-on-one training at their work station while it is often helpful to have a mentor who can come in to fix up problems or assist with workloads.

Bookkeeping

Busy Bookkeeping thrives on delivering effective bookkeeping services either on client premises or at our offices. We have the knowledge and experience to set up and maintain books for a wide range of businesses - at the last count our team was keeping books for thousands of businesses representing hundreds of different occupations and with a combined turnover in excess of $ 6 million. We can provide accountants with figures in whatever form suits their system. We understand Payroll, Stock Control, Profit and Loss, Cash Flow, BAS and FBT.

Raising the Bar

Busy Bookkeeping has several important forward commitments. We want to see every one of our franchises meeting and exceeding the expectations of its owner. This is a goal, which recognises the flexibility and individual ambition of each franchisee. Some want a good sole practitioner source of income while others aim to employ significant numbers of support staff, yet others wish to operate from commercial offices providing the ultimate service to their clients. We are committed to realising each reasonable ambition.

We are equally determined to provide an even, high standard of client service across our network. Ongoing professional development is a vital key to this.

We continue to develop and implement programs which raise the individual and collective standards of professionalism of all our team members.

As part of this process we are actively working with the ATO and other industry groups to define and develop an accreditation process for the Australian bookkeeping industry.
